Bioinspired
The course covers the issues as Spatial planning, Ergonomics of space, Accessibility, Diagrammatic representations and analysis, Functional and programmatic requirements, Structural requirements, Climatic performance and Scale.
We began our design research with close observation of selected plants indigenous to the İzmir region with a biologist. We looked at these plants to try to understand their adaptations in terms of form and function relationships. We formed a list of guiding principles for adaptation to the local conditions and explore how these principles might be applied to architecture and urban design.
Our site had a limited usable area, so it must be used in a most efficient way. The flower buds have a great advantage over a surface area which comes from the fluffy extensions and it has many lives and some of them are translucent to getting sunlight. In the design, I gathered the circulation elements, which is big but uncountable as heated space, to the middle of the area. This lets us spread our main spaces wide enough.

Inspiration Center
This studio's main objectives include, exploring the challenges presented by a non-urban site, analyzing a rural settlement and a site in a natural and historical environment.
There are also challenges that come with the nature of the building program. We are designing an Inspiration Center for Artists and Academics in Güllübahçe, which requires us to do research on and creatively interpret the program considering the synergy and crossinspiration of the prospect residents/users of the building we would design.
We are designing a building as well as its close environment in one of the most precious landscapes of the Aegean Region. The village, Güllübahçe (Gelebeç), which is our host environment, is an old Greek settlement now inhabited by migrants who arrived with the population exchange in the first quarter of the century. The village is the neighbor and almost integrated with an ancient city and now an archaeological site of Priene, which is also known as one of the first planned cities.

Maritime Travel Research and Information Center in Rotterdam
Sea travel remained the most important form of travel until the airplane was invented in the early 20th century.
This year we are expected to work on a Maritime Travel Research and Information Center in Rotterdam. The center located in Kop van Zuid, on the old inner port (Rijnhaven) of the Niuwe Maas, which is the Dutch arm of the River Rhine. Rijnhaven was the center of early 20th century transatlantic travel where cruisers would dock in and depart from, especially well-known for the cruisers that left for New York.
In the first phase we are expected to work in groups. Taking advantage of remote teaching and the massive availability of digitized information on Rotterdam. In the second phase we are working individually, developing the mission statement and the program required by the center, and focusing mainly on the design of the center according to the master plan that you prepared for your conceptual framework.

Housing in Denizli
This semester, we are going to produce urban and architectural design proposals for a safe, healthy, and enriching living environment for a multiplicity of functions including housing, negotiating between private, semi-private and public uses of a very central plot in downtown Denizli. The plot is surrounded by an urban park on the north, facing the Great Mosque of Denizli to the northeast and the historic Germiyanlıoğulları Foundation Baths and Atatürk Ethnography Museum to the northwest; Denizli Provincial Government House and Pamukkale Governorship Building to its west; and Bulut Hotel to its east, the latter as attached to some low-rise apartment blocks. All these buildings date from different periods and speak the architectural language of their own era, importantly devoid of a unifying urban layout. One of the objectives of the studio will, thus, be to negotiate between these different functions and architectural languages through a new urban-scale proposal for mixed use.
